A BREATH OF FRESH AIR BY THE SEA
Camping De Zandput is located in the middle of the dunes and within walking distance of the North Sea beach, where it is great to relax in the summer. The place where the campsite is located used to be a water catchment area. This area is now an oasis of tranquility and offers space for beautiful nature.
In the area there are many opportunities for hiking and cycling, so you can end up in the woods, take a trip along the dikes or take the bike to the Veerse Meer.
At the park itself there is also plenty to do! The children have a great time in the summer with the available recreational program or in the Kids Club. The youngsters can go to the beach together and in the evening there is also room to play a game of table tennis. Sports and game fields are also available. Although the park itself does not have a swimming pool, guests have free access to the subtropical swimming paradise at the nearby Roompot Beach Resort in Kamperland.
You can visit the café or snack bar when you don’t feel like cooking for yourself. Do you want to cook, but have you forgotten the tomatoes or pasta? You can get those at the supermarket at the park.
NEAR CAMPING DE ZANDPUT
LAKE VEER
Lake Veere is an attractive water sports spot for sailors, sport fishermen, and sport divers. There is opportunity for surfing and water skiing via a cable ski run and there is a canoe port. There are 3,500 moorings for pleasure yachts around the lake. There are some dive sites, including north of Wolphaartsdijk and on the west side of Veere. About twelve thousand trout are stocked in the lake annually, half of them rainbow trout and the other half brook trout.
OOSTERSCHELDEKERING
The Oosterscheldekering or storm surge barrier is without doubt the most impressive part of the Delta Works. This flood barrier is over 3 kilometers long and consists of two dam rows with a total of 65 huge concrete piers. It is also a road link between Schouwen-Duiveland and Noord-Beveland. On the island of Neeltje Jans, between the sliding parts of the barrier, is Deltapark Neeltje Jans. Here you can see exhibits and films about the flood disaster and the construction of the Delta Works. It is also possible to view a pillar inside and out
DOMBURG
A little south of the park is Domburg, the oldest coastal town in Zeeland. Domburg has a cozy beach with many beach pavilions in the summer. If you cross the dunes and walk into the village, you will find many grand cafes.
Domburg was the city of artists in the 19th century. You can still see that today. In the dune area, for example, you’ll find information boards at places Mondrian used for his sketches. You can even follow an entire Mondrian route to learn more about this old master.
